The Marshalltown Public Library serves many purposes: meeting rooms, computer use, genealogy research, speakers and a myriad of services. Primarily, we go there for the large book selections for both adults and children. Magazines and newspapers are a small part of the total collection, and we understand that not all facets of information are available.
Many of us have used the library for decades. We are there often and appreciate the clever staff and talented director backed by the Board of Trustees and also the Friends of the Library who stand united to make this place so fine. Books are something that bring us together.
Now there is a voice of dissent that can easily turn out library into a political venue. That should not happen. Let the staff choose our library contents as they have done so well in the past. The Marshalltown Library is a wonderful asset to our community and those nearby. It’s a wonderful refuge. Let’s keep it that way.
