Spend money on school security
We just learned that our school district has allocated $6.5 million to update the MHS Track and Field complex. In the wake of yet another school shooting this week, wouldn’t it be a better use of these funds if we spent at least half of that allocation on school security? Metal detectors, automatic doors, security officers etc.
Considering how little has been done over the last few years, our state and federal legislators are not going to ban automatic weapons nor add more effective background checks. Therefore, our schools will have to do whatever it takes to protect our children. Let’s do everything we can to stop these tragedies.
