Part three — Israel’s fall from grace

What happened to Israel in the 400 years of God’s silent treatment? In this time-frame Israel had many events happen.

As a Nation Israel rejected any help that God sent their way. All God wanted was for them to recognize Him and reject their other-false-god-seeking desire.

Little did they know that John the Baptizer was on his way! He would tell them that the Messiah was very near. Israel had accepted so many other gods that they had blind eyes and deaf ears. Their rejection of The Son was the final straw.

If the people could not work with God, their Savior would be given to those who would accept Him. Until Christ comes again, Gentiles have the task of preaching the Word, by living a life in Christ. Like the failure of Hebrew preachers, the Ministers of our day have not set us on a sturdy foundation with God.

For sure, there have been great Evangelists; many of them did a wonderful job of moving us to repentance, but there are too many people and not enough committed workers. You would think the Jewish folks would have seen the handwriting on the wall.

In 180 BC, the Greeks ran pigs in the temple. That should have been an immediate warning, they were losing the God who created them! If the Temple wasn’t important to them, then God would allow it to suffer destruction. The Jews needed to pay attention to their covenant with God, through Abraham.

Earlier, Israel claimed they would come back and rebuild Jerusalem by their own might; God promised to tear it down again, and He did. There would be no living the way they had for thousands of years; without the Creator.

When the Messiah came and was rejected, then the story about the ever-wandering people of God came true. (Judges 19:26/27) Israel could not find her way back home, until it was too late. Have we fallen down at the same doorstep of our safe-house? Have God’s people wandered too far from Him, again? Do we have enough strength to return through His open door? In God, there is always hope but we must not put off the task that is needed-which is repentance and change. Are the Gentiles allowing Judges 19:26/27 to happen again on their watch?
