Once a year the American Legion Auxiliary seeks donations in exchange for poppies, the memorial flower of the American Legion and the American Legion Auxiliary. The poppy, a replica of the poppies that bloomed on the battlefields of France, are handmade here in Iowa at the Iowa Veterans Home by disabled veterans. A Poppy says remember — remember the sacrifices of our veterans – share this beautiful memorial flower — remember.

American Legion Auxiliary unit #46 appreciated the courtesy of Walmart, Hy-Vee, Fareway and Theisen’s in permitting volunteers from the Legion, Legion Honor Guard, Auxiliary and others to distribute poppies May 18, 19 and 20th Also thank you to Doo Dah’s Diner for the collection in the canister and for displaying our poppy window for a month. May we never take for granted the freedoms we enjoy.
