John Worden is misguided

John Worden is misguided.

As I read yet another letter to the editor from John Wordon today, it reminded me of a petulant child not getting his way.

John brought two publications to the library board (Epoch Times and American Rifleman) in the early spring this year. The Library Board voted unanimously to not honor John’s request. This did not sit well with John.

Since that vote, John has gone to the County Supervisors to have the County’s person on the Library Board removed. The County Supervisors refused. He has repeatedly asked to be put on the agenda again for the same issue, only to be turned down because it has already been dealt with. No Library Board member is asking for the issue to be brought up again. John has written dozens of emails to Library staff employees trying to get around the board’s vote, creating stress and taking up valuable time that could be put to better use.

Library patrons have been attending more board meetings just to show support for Sarah and her staff, including myself. Apparently, I made John mad at one meeting during the public comment of the meeting because I raised my voice questioning his motives.

Now a letter to the editor asking for the Library Director to be fired.

Enough!

I have gotten to know Sarah Rosenblum over the past three years while on the City Council. Marshalltown is very lucky to have her. Sarah does a fantastic job as our Library Director going above and beyond time and time again.

John’s continued mission does nothing but distract our librarians from doing the job they love to do and this needs to stop.

At what point does this issue become harassment?

Growing up, my parents had a saying that I remember quite well. “What part of no don’t you understand?”

I don’t like being told no either, but John Worden needs to learn how to deal with it.

Starting at $4.38/week.
