When life begins!
Across the table sat a frail, bleached-out woman. She was unable to speak or think, looking 90 years old, instead of her 47 years. She wasn’t able to respond to any questions, she was devoid of any recognition of her surroundings.
God, how did she come to this? How could she do this to herself? I thought, what a wasted life! When her true story was revealed, we see a terrible misuse of parental responsibility. The adults, who were supposed to take care and nurture her, used her as a sex-slave at a very early age. To control her reaction to their demands, they fed her drugs. Now, her brain had no ability to function. After hearing the complete story, my angst turned toward those adults.
At our birth, we lack the ability to have moral clarity. In those baby years, we only hear and see things around us: Family, Preachers and Teachers fill in the void areas of life. Adam and Eve had no understanding of satan and his ways of deceit.
From my own experience as a father, it is a terrible thing to have a child’s welfare in your hands, and do nothing to help that life mature. We are God’s helper in that matter. According to Jesus, life begins with God. To be a person of His Kingdom, we have to be physically born from our Mother’s womb, then Spiritually born from above.
Even the Messiah had to arrive by natural birth. In the dark of night a Jewish leader visited Jesus. He asked what he had to do to be saved? Jesus’ response was that he had to be “born again.” To have physical birth is not an automatic ticket to Heaven. What allows us to enter the Kingdom is, “can we believe that Jesus is the Son of God?” Can we believe that His blood is the price paid for those who want to redeem themselves? Are we able to believe that and repent, while telling it to others?
If we can, then we are reborn from above. Jesus says that only He has the right to make that happen. No one else can do it. Scripture is clear that we must teach others about love, compassion and forgiveness. Each one of us must choose to accept God’s offer.
