The Marshalltown Area United Way’s Power of the Purse (POP) Committee: Cherra Meloy, Maria Gonzalez, Kelli Thurston, Erin Krough, Linda Von Holten, Kendra Sorensen, Peggy Hannam, Shannon Naughton and Shannon Johnson, would like to send out a huge thank you to our donors, attendees, volunteers and supporters.

We would also like to thank our generous Gold Sponsor, Laurie Gowdy of Thrivent, for our event, which was a new opportunity we offered this year, and a wine sponsor, GNB Bank. The champagne sponsor for 2023 was Cindy Brodin with Premier Real Estate. Additionally, to accommodate having more capacity for participants this year, we changed our venue location and held the event at the Midnight Garden. The owners, Luisa and Ramon, along with staff were fantastic to work with, very accommodating, and provided a beautifully decorated venue. Kyle Martin was also doing double duty

as this year’s Campaign Co-Chair and our fantastic Emcee for the 12th year in a row!

Our POP Committee collected over 180 auction items that were paired together for 101 bid items including purses, gift cards, jewelry, wine and much more. With your help, we were able to raise over $39,500 (up from $26,225 last year) toward our goal of $825,000 to assist the 28 agencies partnered with the Marshalltown Area United Way.
