The recent articles in the TR from the city council meetings, concerning possible changes in garbage pickup services appear to make it more difficult for these hard-working people to do their job. I greatly appreciate the job they do, year-round in every weather condition. Provided the garbage is picked up by an authorized business and handled properly, why does the city council want to limit pickup to a packer truck? In the future, it sounds like the city council wants to dictate what day your garbage is picked up. It seems that the garbage hauling businesses already have a system that works.

I understand the city council wanting to make Marshalltown more appealing to potential new residents. If so, why isn’t something done about a burned-out house on Highland Acres Road that has been an eye sore for months or various residences around town that look like they are starting a combination junk yard/flea market?
