Dear Tama County Voters,

As Iowans, we have a unique opportunity to impact policy that governs our lives. The Iowa Caucuses will be held Jan. 15, 2024 at 7:00 p.m. At the caucuses, there are many ways to make a difference. In Tama County, we will gather with our neighbors at precinct locations according to your registered party. Republicans assemble to caucus with other republicans and democrats assemble with other democrats. As chairman of the Tama County Republican Party, I will outline the different ways that you can engage at Republican caucuses.

The most popular way to engage is through the presidential preference poll. This is the first opportunity for republicans to vote to nominate our preferred candidate for President of the United States. We have unique opportunities to be able to attend events locally and ask our candidates questions on policy positions. There will be an opportunity at the caucuses to vote via ballot for your preferred candidate. The votes are tallied and there will be a winner declared and announced of individual caucus locations. These totals are then reported to the state party who tallies all votes and declares a winner from the state of Iowa. 

Another way to engage is to be elected as a member of the Tama County Republican Central Committee. This committee is composed of two members from each precinct that meets monthly and engages Tama County to promote Republican Party candidates and the platform. 

Finally, participants can engage by being elected to the Tama County Convention as a delegate. Delegates of the Tama County Republican Convention elect delegates to the district and state convention, and to propose and adopt a platform of policies that govern the Republican Party. 

It is a great privilege to participate in the first in the nation caucuses. I encourage you to get involved and make your voice heard!
