Mark Eaton should be elected for the 4th ward city council position. Over the past six years, I have gotten to know Mark pretty well and even sat down and discussed pressing issues before the city council with him. I can personally support Mark 100 percent because he is the most educated, most knowledgeable and the most qualified candidate running for the city council.

I know that Mark has attended every city council meeting for as long as I have known him. I also witnessed Mark and the late Al Hoop having discussions about the city council matters on a weekly basis because Hoop lived right across the street from me. Then, Mark would keep the entire neighborhood informed of the same.

Mark Eaton is clearly the best choice for the future of Marshalltown and for the elected position of city council 4th ward. He has the honesty, integrity and progressively thinking attitude that this city needs right now. He will also be the strongest leader for our community going forward. Others may not be as outspoken as Mark is but he believes so much in core values along with accountability and common sense that he speaks out. There is a quote: “If you see something, then say something,” and Mark does exactly that.

Mark Eaton is not against “all good things the community wants,” he just believes in his heart that our community needs checks and balances just like we all do with our own fiscal budgets at home. You just can’t spend, spend, and spend at home or within the city budgets. You have to prioritize all of your wants over all of your essential needs.

Mark is watching out for the best interests of all citizens in the city when he raises issues with non-essential spending. Money is tight right now and every decision the council makes involves spending money. Unless we all watch our pocket books and watch the city’s budgets and raise tough questions when needed Marshalltown city government could be in big trouble in the near future.

If the goal is to elect the best qualified candidate then Mark Eaton deserves your vote and mine. He is the only person that can carry on what Al Hoop started. Thank you.
