My fourth ward friends and neighbors, why do you need to vote?

You will make a huge difference in the direction Marshalltown’s future will take.

Will our future be a continued recovery taking a conservative approach with a focus on infrastructure? Or will our future be a return to excessive spending and the pursuit of the nice to haves (amenities) wanted by special interest groups while our community’s need to haves (infrastructure) continues to suffer?

As a female business owner, I have been attending council meetings, forums, researching and discussing issues with Mark Eaton for the past 7 years. Mark has been respectful, willing to listen to varying viewpoints, encourages independent research and is passionate about doing his own in-depth research on all issues facing Marshalltown and Marshall County. He has a passion to increase voter involvement and knowledge and promotes this in multiple forums. He understands that it is important to bring all the stakeholders to the table, not just a select few, to address community wide issues.

Mark’s knowledge of our budget and taxation system comes from years of research and involvement in our city and county government. I have witnessed our city leaders asking his opinion on detailed legislative decisions being made at the state or federal level that impact our city budget. These impacts directly affect the taxes you are paying and what programs are or are not being funded. He understands our past challenges, the current issues we are facing and the direction we should be heading to promote future growth.

Mark’s knowledge, business experience and education has given him the wisdom that is critical to make the tough decisions facing our City Council right now. These decisions take courage to stand up to do what is right within our limited budget. He has creative ideas to promote and allocate resources for the good things our community wants and needs to do.

This election should not be about gender, age, culture or someone willing to learn.

This election is about needing effective and strong leadership ready to go now! Leadership that already has the education, life experiences, knowledge, wisdom, compassion, integrity and is willing to challenge our community to truly be TEAM MARSHALLTOWN. We need this approach for a prosperous future with all our diverse voices being respected and heard.
