Last week, we came to Marshalltown to launch our books: Geese on the Streets: Blossom and Frankie’s Love Story by Deb Elliott and Frankie and Blossom: A Honkin’ Great Love Story by K. S. Wuertz.

We want to thank you for your overwhelming support and great kindness during our days in Marshalltown in mid-August. We’re proud to say we were raised here, graduated from MHS (’75), and are the recipients of the great love and Iowa values that being a part of Marshalltown gave us.

What our town has been through over the past few years could seem insurmountable, but as Iowans know, we just keep going. You have taken sad stories and made them Marshalltown strong. Frankie and Blossom’s story is no different. Dorie Tammen saw a creature in need and reached out to help her. Just look how far she has taken all of us!

We owe a thank you to Dorie and Randy and Deb Hoyt (Frankie’s pet parents). We would be remiss if we didn’t also thank David Shearer, Raechel Casey, Mike Brennecke and all the crew at Riverside Cemetery who welcomed us for our launch day. They continue to care for Frankie, Blossom and the other creatures daily, showing them such love.

Several businesses stepped up to help us launch our books: the Albion Public Library, Create a Keepsake, Hy-Vee, KCCI, KFJB, Stepping Stones Christian Bookstore, and of course, the Times-Republican. These businesses graciously supported and hosted us so that we could make our books available to everyone in Marshalltown.

Finally, thanks to all of you who came out and purchased a book for Frankie and Blossom. Our class of ’75 classmates showed up for us big time!
