Raising taxes is not the answer

Sarah Corkery, US congressional candidate, at a forum hosted by the Poweshiek Democrats at Drake Library in Grinnell on May 19, 2024 said raising taxes would solve inflation and the national debt of $35 trillion.

Corkery did not mention spending reductions when I asked what she would do to fight inflation, instead relying on more revenue which will ultimately hurt those who can least afford it such as senior citizens like myself.

Government overspending is responsible for inflation, the deficit, and for my lower real annual income adjusted for inflation. Corkery mentioned that she earned enough to be able to pay higher taxes, which shows her to be one of the elite who does not understand the economics of real people.

A vote for Corkery is a vote for raising YOUR taxes to cover continued over spending, inflation and lower real income for seniors.

I urge you to vote for Ashley Hinson, who champions reduced spending and seniors.
