Speeding
The article on speeding in town gets one response. Boloney. Last Thursday a car going at least 100 mph came by my house. Wednesday evening at 8:30 one went by at 60 mph. There are no cruisers running radar or writing tickets.
Speeding on our street is every day, every night and in the night. We have been told we can’t have a permanent deterrent. No stop signs (that would cause pollution), no speed bumps and no radar. We who live on these streets know what’s not happening.
I see cops in other parts of town. It may be a priority in some areas of town but not ours, in fact I rarely see a cop at all. Center Street, 3rd Ave., Iowa Avenue are all race tracks.
Has anyone from the cop shop driven down Center Street in the morning? Say 8:30. I’m the only car driving the speed limit. But then, drivers have been told it’s OK to speed, say, 10 mph over. That means they add another 10. Thanks a lot. My employer was passed by a BMW on 330 Friday afternoon that was weaving in and out of traffic at 120 to 150 mph. A fly through the air accident waiting to happen.
Speeding is a serious safety issue and a quality of life issue. OUR quality of life. Ironic for a city that wants new residents and touts they care about everyone.
P.S. Why write new parking codes when you never enforced the existing ones? Evident all down my street.
