Nan Benson’s experience matters
Nan Benson is a proven leader who prioritizes our election integrity in Marshall County. When Iowa legislators reached out to discuss possible changes, Nan was open and transparent, telling them what processes and safeguards worked and what could be improved. Nan conveyed how any proposed changes could impact not just election integrity, but also voters. Nan’s election experience matters.
Nan was instrumental in updating the personnel policy for Marshall County employees. She led the update process after others left the policy untouched for 20 years. Her understanding of human resources, benefits, payroll, and payroll taxes, with experiences from both large and small employers gives her a wide range of practical experience. Nan’s administrative experience matters.
As a farm owner, Nan understands the complexities of real estate. Recent legislative changes have had a large impact on real estate processes and calculations across the state, including here in Marshall County. Marshall County was disproportionately impacted, first having to wait for the State of Iowa to determine the impacts of legislative changes to Marshall County, then for programmers to update the system. Without Nan’s prior experience to expedite the county’s work, this could have been a debacle. Again, Nan’s experience matters.
Nan’s experience over the last seven years has seen us through the 2018 tornado, 2020 pandemic and 2020 derecho. Along with the buildings and grounds director, Nan has managed the county’s insurance claim for the tornado of over $35 million and $3.5 million for the derecho. Her leadership coordinating meetings and communications with department heads and public messaging was a true testament to her leadership during these challenging times. Experience matters. Vote Nan Benson for Marshall County Auditor/Recorder on Nov. 5.
