Clarification on Day of Prayer letter to the editor
The Day of Prayer event article on May 3rd & 4th Saturday, Sunday paper. It says Honor Guard in this article? It is not the Honor Guard, it’s the Color guard. A Color Guard presents and posts the flags; it’s a ceremonial function and often invited to civic, educational, religious, and patriotic events.
Participation in a prayer event does not equate to an endorsement of its message. The flag belongs to all Americans, and the presence of a Color Guard reminds us of the freedom to worship — or not — enshrined in the same Constitution veterans took an oath to defend. Thank you.
