Walmart being played
Walmart stores prohibit solicitations in their facilities and on their parking lots so I was surprised to discover John Worden bragging about gathering 200 names on a petition at the Marshalltown Walmart against local library policies. In a letter in the Times Republican last Monday, he solicited “Walmart shoppers” who signed his petition to join him in protest at a library board meeting.
I called the manager at the Marshalltown Walmart who was not happy to see the store linked to his private cause when she read his letter online. Walmart was not aware of this incident and would not have given permission for him to use its property for business. He was a trespasser.
This is hilarious to anyone who remembers his last stunt cause in 2017 against the library, when he demanded that the library refuse admittance to anyone who could not provide a passport or proof of American citizenship, which the Board of Trustees never approved. This from a man who doesn’t even use the library himself except for protests on his “free speech rights.”
