Worden’s whims

After reading countless complaints from Mr. John Worden from Green Mountain concerning the reluctance of the Marshalltown Library to display the Epoch Times and The American Rifleman I would respond by saying the Library is under no obligation to cater to Worden’s whims. I subscribe to many publications, donate and belong to several organizations and purchase books and have a Library card from the Marshalltown and State Center libraries. Under no circumstance would I urge or force a library to cater to my tastes, my political, religious or social beliefs.

I am a firm believer in self driven curiosity: if someone is interested then they can purchase publications on their own dime. Don’t expect a Library to carry every right wing, left wing or so called center minded publication. Besides the Epoch Times is a terribly slanted publication in favor of the dog eat dog capitalism that splits and tears apart common sense and human interaction.

I got a letter from the National Rifle Association a while back and it’s plug to join was pure paranoia stuff like the government is coming for your guns wackoism. No thanks Mr. Worden. I don’t pack or carry on the streets, I don’t view every human I meet on the street as an enemy, I trust that the police a trained force to combat crime will have my back. That’s good enough for my protection when i walk the streets of America. If you can’t trust you can’t enjoy peace or have a democratic society you have societal breakdown.

I would like it a lot better if more folks purchased The Times Republican. We are mighty lucky to have a local newspaper and a radio station.

Starting at $4.38/week.
