To the editor,

The reasoning behind an interview by Robert Maharry with Lonnie Hogeland is questionable. Filing for municipal office has not begun, Hogeland has not focused on a specific office and the scattershot remarks by Hogeland reveal an unfocused mind. His remarks are immature, mean spirited and an insult to the real work accomplished daily by dedicated board members, city employees and elected officials. Marshalltown faced the damage caused by the derecho a few years ago and made a remarkable return to normal operations.

Hogeland models himself on Donald Trump which is not a recommendation in my book. The Trump era may come to an end sooner than the mid term elections because there is just negativity, fear of a new America and nihilism and anarchy in The Donald.

I plan on having a happy life in Marshalltown with the many friends I have made and do not see the negativity Hogeland sees in Marshalltown. Just more of the Mark Eaton and Gary Thompson tunnel vision which is based on fear of non-Caucasian America.

Please, Lonnie, go to that fancy library and learn how to write in literate fashion and speak in complete sentences.
