Roundtable grant award

I recently read in the Times-Republican about this grant award presented by Tom & Jade McCoy to Outreach, Inc. — the nonprofit founded by Floyd and Kathy Hammer, of Union. Outreach, Inc. will be installing Waterpoint Systems in four different primary schools in Tanzania. The people there will now have clean drinking water!

We in the U.S. are so blessed — we don’t even think twice about our water system — yet this will help prevent disease and often death to others far away.

This story reminded me of a very early T.V. program years ago which featured a small group of engineers who built a rather large bridge connecting an important area in a third world country. They were ready to come home and someone told them of a village that at certain times of the years the river would rise and prevent the children on one side from joining the others for school. They asked the small group of engineers if they could stay just one week mor and help build the bridge. The engineers decided they could do this if the people helped carry things they needed as they worked. The village including the children did just that and it was built just in time for them to leave. Now the children can attend school year round and will remember and say “I helped build this bridge?”

These are the things which can truly bless others instead of just throwing money at them.

This was a wonderful article to read and Tom and Jade, you were involved in being a blessing to others.

Starting at $4.38/week.
