Our inner self
Often, I watch people because they are so demonstrative in what they do. Who doesn’t want to watch some tiny person dancing in their dad’s hip-high galoshes, so unaware of what others think of what they are doing. They are zoned out following the tune in their head. It may only be a picture you see once in a lifetime. Her little arms and legs are choreographed to how she feels the music in her head. When our granddaughter was three, she attended a wedding with us. When it came time to dance we were treated to her version of how three-year-olds should move. We were so enamored by her actions, we could do nothing but stand and watch. How could such a young person have that much ability to “do her thing” with music. It is no secret that I make friends with young people because I want them to know that someone sees them as a gift from God. I want them to know that our generation wants to bless them along their way in life. Heavens-to-Betsy, there is so much violence given to them that it makes my heart sick. I have shared this story before with you: we were dining at the south Chinese food place with family. A little girl, about three, was running around the isles and no one was stopping her. Her family was next to ours. I had a terrible back ache and on one of her rounds, I held my hands out and she jumped right into them. I was a complete stranger to her but she grabbed my silky shirt collar and laid her head on my chest. Just content, as though I was her father. In that moment, the pain in my back was gone and did not return when she left. I was watching a video sent by Rhonda James, T.R. employee. She and her three-year-old grandson, Remington Roads, snuck out for ice cream. Remington’s mother asked him what happened in the car? “Grandma got a ticket!” He was asked if it was worth 150 dollars to just to have ice cream. Still sipping on his shake, he said yes. If we want to get the good stuff of Heaven, it doesn’t cost anything, no speeding tickets, just a belief in the one who died to give us eternal life, the Messiah, Jesus Christ Son of God.
