MPL Boardroom Antics pt. 7

Rejected Statement of Concern Jan 2026

Choreographed weaponization of policy and procedure Nov. 2022 in response to Statement of Concern.

Without scrutiny, Beek, Gaffney, and Morrison accept the weaponization.

Rosenblum lied in a Jan. 2023 TR interview stating that the public was “all in support” of the boards decision not to subscribe to the two publications. “My other concern is that you lied to the Board (and the public) about feedback “all in support” of the libraries rejection of the Epoch Times. “Obviously my feedback was not in support of that decision.” “Hiding dissenting opinions leads to mistrust in our public entities” ” I hope you will present the full truth in future Board reports” (Quote from patron email)

Patrons offer generous compromise in Feb. 2023. Never substantively discussed.

In policy review April 2023, MPL without patron representation writes punitive and reactionary policy contrary to Trustee Handbook. MPL adds “during public comment” to existing policy.

June 2023 comment time, a patron is allowed to, against board meeting procedure, yell at patrons for not accepting the corrupt vote.

Board president Gaffney publicly seeks “middle ground”

President Gaffney requests a list of patrons wishing to read The Epoch Times and The American Rifleman in the library. A list/petition of 200 patrons wishing to have the publications displayed on the main shelves is rejected.

MPL hosts partisan presenter. Director Rosenblum fails to indicate when a countering presentation will occur. May 2024. Rosenblum demands a balanced collection while hosting partisan speakers and prefers academics over balanced board representation.

Over 38 months, board members refuse invitation to meet with patrons for any reason. called out for contacting the appropriate trustee. Feb 2023

Rosenblum stated in the TR that copies of The Epoch Times was provided to the board for “advanced review” but won’t say when. Nov. 2025. Why then did a did a board member ask what the Epoch Times was immediately before voting against it? Why did Gaffney accept copies of the Epoch Times and American Rifleman months after the vote?

Multiple Statements of Concern were rejected and do not appear on agendas because they were used ” to make broader complaints about her and the boards leadership” TR Dec. 2025
