Child Abuse Prevention Month
It’s April and that means Spring has arrived and we are eager to get out, get moving and feel a newness of life. Children are out and about with Parents trying to keep up and the Blue Kids about town are reminding us it’s Child Abuse Prevention month, as well as a time to celebrate children and the gifts they give us- joy, love, curiosity, inspiration, challenges, hope and more. Children are the seedlings (of the future) while Parents are the gardeners charged with nurturing them each and every day.
We as individuals and as a community also play a role in supporting children and parents through words of support, a caring smile, a helping hand, teaching by example and support of resources to assist those in need. That’s where CAPS comes in. Child Adolescent Parent Support services is a home grown, local agency committed to educating and empowering parents to be the best they can be, which ultimately grows stronger families and positive community members. It all starts at home and grows from there. CAPS offers in-home visitors who provide education and support, answer questions, offer a listening ear and more.
CAPS collaborates with schools, law enforcement, medical and other service areas. CAPS is dependable, reliable and fiscally responsible with proven outcomes using proven methods of intervention. These are reasons I choose to serve on the Board and support the Mission of CAPS. As you consider the rebirth of Spring, the children of our community and as you see the Blue Kids around town I hope you too will consider CAPS as a resource worth supporting.
