In Old Testament times God encouraged the Jews to build themselves watchtowers. They needed to be aware because Israel’s enemies wanted to kill them. The enemy of God doesn’t want us to live, they want to destroy our relationship to the Creator. Living in this world is like that. We must watch for the devil, he wants us to fail at knowing who God is. In Genesis 3:15 we see scriptural proof that the devil has the right to test our faith as long as we live: satan is still running the show on earth. We are in his domain, he has infected his kind with disbelief and hate. Our poor choices is (are) the reason Jesus came out of Heaven; as a way to redeem all who would believe. After dying on the cross, the Messiah went to Hell to gather the saved souls there. Scripture says that “He led the captives, captive. He took His own advice in Matt. 12:29, He first “bound the strong man before robbing him,” of those people who were God’s. In Revelation 1:18 Jesus has the keys to Heaven and Hell. If Jesus is the only opener and closer of those gates, wouldn’t it benefit us to believe scripture is true? Especially, when the devil followed Jesus all the way to Heaven in an attempt to kill him (Rev. 12:1-17). God placed salvation and forgiveness in His Son? There is no other way to enter Heaven than to believe what Jesus says! Anyway, Adam and Eve are gone and today it is our time to choose a way to live: for good or evil. If we choose goodness, let’s work for a place inside the Heavenly gates. My daily prayers include a petition for all unbelievers. Like God, I don’t want anyone to go to Hell. God put Jesus in charge for a reason, He is the only one who can make our re-entry happen. Over the years, many folks have indicated that they can believe in God, but not Jesus. That makes no sense because scripture does not say that God has the Keys; it is his Son. His sinless blood was shed for us. The devil uses people to throw monkey-wrenches in our belief- path. Those monkey-wrench throwers must make a choice for Jesus too. They are everywhere in life. For now, they have chosen the wrong path! Choose well!
