RAGBRAI housing volunteers needed

On Wednesday, July 22, Marshalltown will step into the spotlight as we host RAGBRAI 53. With approximately 20,000 riders, support crews, and visitors expected to roll into town in a single day, this is more than just a bike ride–it is a great opportunity to showcase our community’s hospitality, our vibrant spirit, and everything Marshalltown has to offer.

To make this event a success, we need your help. We are currently seeking housing volunteers to open their hearts (and their yards) to our guests.

Providing housing is simpler than you might think. Many riders are simply looking for:

• A patch of grass: A flat space in your backyard to pitch a tent.

• Basic amenities: Access to a restroom and a shower to wash off the dust of the Iowa roads.

• Safety: A place for emergency shelter in the event of severe weather.

Of course, if you have a bed, or a couch to share, that is a bonus.

Hosting riders is one of the most rewarding ways to experience RAGBRAI. It’s an opportunity to meet people from across the country and the world, and leave them with a lasting impression of why Marshalltown is a great place to live and visit.

Whether you have a large acreage or a modest city lot, we need your help. Let’s show these 20,000 visitors the very best of Marshalltown’s “Iowa Nice” reputation.

For those interested in volunteering space or learning more about the requirements, please contact the local RAGBRAI Housing Committee by filling out the host form at https://www.marshalltownragbrai.com/plan-your-stay/ or use the QR link.

Let’s make July 22 a great day to remember for you, our guests and our community.

Starting at $4.38/week.
