Rocky Damiano for Senate District 27

As a Conservative Republican, in the past I have voted for Annette Sweeney every time she has been on the ballot.

But this election year I cannot vote for her because she has not fought or helped pass legislation to protect our constitutional rights to protect private property rights against the use of eminent domain.

Private Property Rights is protected in our Federal Constitution, the Iowa Constitution and the Republican Platform. Protecting private property rights affects every single person, not just farmers, who own property. If you own a property or business in town and someone else decides they like your location and they say they can build a bigger home or business there and will pay higher taxes than you, by paying you the value of your property they could take it. Losing property rights would also affect what you can do on your property

At Iowa Utility Board (Commission) hearings for Summit Carbon Solutions permit, one of the landowners who testified was originally from China. Her family moved to Iowa, because they lost the property rights to their farm in China and the Government took over.

Senator Sweeney states she has supported property rights because she passed legislation to make transmission lines restore the land back to its previous state. This is good.

But protecting private property rights should go a step further and give that property owner the right to say yes or no when the project is not for public use like natural gas and ammonia pipelines would be, but the C02 pipelines are not.

Senator Sweeney states in her newsletters and postcards that she is willing to listen to her constituents. That must not include her constituents who have been at the capital every week. Some of those have been her friends and neighbors for years. They have gone to church together and on vacations, but she never responded to their requests to meet with her at the capital.

Rocky Damiano is running against Senator Sweeney. He will support PROTECTING PRIVATE PROPERTY RIGHTS. Each person elected to office puts their hand on the Bible and pledges to support the constitution. IT’S TIME TO ELECT A SENATOR WHO TAKES THAT OATH SERIOUSLY AND WILL PROTECT PRIVATE PROPERTY RIGHTS AGAINST THE USE OF EMINENT DOMAIN.

Starting at $4.38/week.
