As I was cleaning an old dresser, I found a coin. It could have even been there when I purchased the dresser second-handed. It was minted by the U.S. Treasury and given to someone displaying extraordinary courage in service to America. It was made from a captured German canon: that’s probably a clue. This person of valor was probably sent to take this canon out as it was hindering troop movement. This coin remains in my collection but it was nothing I had earned. I feel guilty that it belongs to someone else. The accomplishments of this silent warrior are present in our home but it shouldn’t be. In war-time, we think about doing those kind of things-protecting ourselves. We give accolades for human achievement so I wonder what it would be like to receive a Heavenly reward for services rendered to God. Oh, wait, there is and it’s called the “Crown of Life.” It is given to the one who succeeds in defeating their sins. and accepting that we made choices that brought sin into our nature. What does “Crown of life” mean? It is related to Adam and Eve’s failure in the Garden of Eden. They had the good things of life but chose the lifestyle of satan. Our walk through life is our own opportunity to choose God. He gives us strength to overcome satan, if we ask. We just received into our family, a new life, a baby girl. Of course, she is one of the most beautiful babies in the world. She is totally dependent on us to teach, tell, and instruct what life is all about. Our task is to help her understand that the “Holy Spirit of God” is the only teacher of eternal matters. We must not fail in our teaching for the Spirit is the only one who can lodge the truth within her. Since God cannot lie we must study and hear what the Spirit says. It will be Elsie ‘s task to believe that, refusing to listen to the Spirit, will bring everlasting (eternal harm). Jesus is God’s only plan to save us from a life of eternal damnation. We must believe that because it is the truth.
