Thanks to the tireless efforts of the Mayor, City Council and veteran leadership from the Fire Department Chief along with lifelong volunteer firefighters Rick Raymond and Gary Aldrich, the small community of Garwin is finishing up on construction of a new Emergency Services building that will house both the Fire Department as well as the Ambulance.
Rick Raymond is a current firefighter with over 40 years of service and has donated countless hours towards the planning and actual building of the structure. It is clear that this dream of a new fire department building would not have been realized without his leadership and skills. In addition, Rick worked on the construction and installation of a set of unique lighting for the meeting room made up of old fire hoses. The effect is that the light appears to come out of the hoses in a unique and artistic display.
Gary Aldrich donated many hours of construction assistance during the planning and building of the structure. Gary is currently retired from the Fire Department after over 40 years of service. He now spends his time as a master woodworker turning timber raised on the family farm into works of art. Recently, he donated a display cabinet for the new fire building that houses a variety of old hose nozzles, radios and helmets. He is truly an artist with wood.
The community of Garwin is proud of the new Emergency Services building, and wishes to extend special appreciation for the work of these veteran firefighters.
