Last election season for District 52, Republican big money ran out Representative Sue Cahill through negative ads in which her policies were misrepresented as scary, and unlike the values of District 52. Thus, David Blom was elected. I wrote to him about my concerns about the nitrates in Iowa's water and our high cancer rates which killed my brother, but I got no response from him. I wondered what values he represented in Des Moines, but instead of using his political ads to inform us about what he accomplished, he is again on the attack.
I looked on Ballotpedia.org to see what bills Representative David Blom sponsored. He sponsored sixteen bills. None of the sixteen bills involved water quality, cancer, taxes, health care, public education, population drain, inflation, data centers, etc. Those issues are what I hear and read that concern District 52. Few of the bills that Blom sponsored were large in scope for the citizens of District 52. He passed four resolutions and Iowa's support for Israel. Those were nice but didn't solve any problems for District 52. My guess is that like Dean Fisher, he probably has 12 dead bills because he doesn't have the leadership to work with the other Representatives to bargain and caucus on big ideas.
Mike Tupper is a leader. He has worked with people. All kinds of people. Marshalltown and Ottumwa are not easy towns to lead, but he did it. When he saw we had mental health problems on our streets, he advocated for Mpact. It's brilliant. Mike Tupper is a problem solver.
