Right now, there are councilmen who are willing to sell Marshalltown down the stream. Think about that for a moment. Thanks to the TR and other private citizens we know Mr. Mitchell blew the lid off of back-room dealings and meetings and I feel like it barely got noticed! I must be careful here as there are those with a history of harassment around these subjects – without naming names but a few younger councilmen are all for the proposed data center in our community. The former mayor has VERY close ties to Silicon Valley and is also very much in favor of a data facility. Why? Why are the discussions shrouded in secrecy? Why is Swarm interested in the 1200 acres of city owned property north of town? 1200 acres! 99% of us want what is best for our community, however there are those who only seek to enrich themselves. I urge my fellow voters to pay very close attention to these discussions and to follow the money and who benefits the most from the proposed center- I guarantee it's not the citizens. What legacy are we going to leave our children with? Will we allow a tech company to paint a perfect picture by not telling us the entire truth? Will we allow a select few who will absolutely benefit while the rest of us are left wondering what happened? Make your voices heard and don't tolerate these tech lies!
