I am supporting Mike Tupper for Iowa House District 52. I have known and worked with Mike Tupper for over 6 years. Most of it while Mike was our Police Chief of Marshalltown. Mike was hired to change the culture of the Police Department, and he did just that, improving the professionalism and policies of the department. This is no easy task. I would put our current Police Department up against any in the state. Over the years, I have seen Mike work through so many problems and issues to a good resolution, both in the PD and on so many other committees and organizations, giving his own time freely. He is focused, hardworking and accessible. He is also willing to look outside the box, being one of the founders of MPACT. He has also worked through several challenging budgets with the city, giving him deep knowledge on how changes at the Statehouse affects cities and counties.
The Tuppers live in Marshalltown and sends their younger kids through MCSD, experiencing the hardships that schools face in Iowa. His family sees and feels the challenges that go with living and trying to thrive in Central Iowa.
Let's set aside politics. Iowa is 49th in economic development, 49th in wage growth and has dropped to 27th in education rankings from 5th only a few years ago. This is simply unacceptable, and I don't care what party it is.
Why would we want to continue on this path? Mike Tupper personally understands the challenges ahead for families and residents. Smart, driven and understands the road ahead.
