Most of us are familiar with the old saying that, "If something seems too good to be true...it probably is!" That is exactly true about Iowa's Amendment One!
Amendment One is a scheme to protect Iowa's corporations and wealthiest individuals from ever having their income taxes raised again. How? By turning our democracy's majority rule on its head and giving the power to stop income tax increases to a minority.
So what, you ask?
The same people are using up State reserve funds by passing unbalanced budgets to the tune of One Billion dollars a year which must end someday. When it ends, Iowans will be faced with drastic cuts in government programs at all levels like schools, counties, and cities. The other option will be drastic increases in sales and property taxes!
Neither option is ideal and those in power now want to force this upon us even if they are voted out!
Vote NO on Amendment One!
