Tupper running for Iowa House

Reading the paper, I had to laugh, Tupper running for Iowa House of Representatives District 52. Tupper said I’m not a politician, yeah right with speed dial to newspaper or anyone else who would take his picture to get in paper. While he was Chief, we lost 12 good police officers. Tupper came from the Nevada police force. I’ve talked to at least 12 couples and individuals, told them he retired and is moving back to Nevada, and was told hell no, no way, you keep him, we don’t want him back. I’m sure if anyone would like to know more they could contact the Johnson family from ...

Concerns of an Iowa voter

Iowans should be a little concerned about some troubling developments that seem to be showing up in a couple of candidates running for a couple of very important offices in our state. Randy Feenstra is running for governor as a Republican and is proud of the over $4.5 million he has raised for his campaign. If you dig down into the origins of this sizable war chest Summit Agricultural Group along with the CEO of Summit and some good old boy RINOS in the US House and their various political action committees seem to be major contributors. These actions are legal, but Mr. Feenstra is ...

Emergency Food Box thanks you

The Emergency Food Box Board is taking time to evaluate 2025 and plan for 2026. The Board wants to thank the community for their support. The community has embraced this mission with many caring volunteers and the resources needed to carry out our mission. In the fall of 1981, the churches of Marshalltown formed a committee called, “Churches United for Compassion and Concern.” This committee studied the needs of Marshalltown residents. After study and careful planning, the Emergency Food Box (EFB) became a reality. In May 1983 the EFB began serving the food needs of the Marshalltown ...

Proto Evangelerium (IA)

The Gospels don’t start with Matthew in the New Testament! One scripture that is seldom preached in Churches, is called Proto Evangelerium, or “first gospel.” It comes from Genesis 3:15. God is informing Adam and Eve the conditions that will come upon their lives, and ours! The good news is that in one, short, simple, sentence, the promise is that a man, (Jesus), born of a woman (Mary) will come and crush the head of satan. There will be an end to evilness! But while we live, satan will always be seeking to destroy us; nipping at our faith. In one sentence the stage is set for ...

MPL Boardroom Antics pt. 7

Rejected Statement of Concern Jan 2026 Choreographed weaponization of policy and procedure Nov. 2022 in response to Statement of Concern. Without scrutiny, Beek, Gaffney, and Morrison accept the weaponization. Rosenblum lied in a Jan. 2023 TR interview stating that the public was “all in support” of the boards decision not to subscribe to the two publications. “My other concern is that you lied to the Board (and the public) about feedback “all in support” of the libraries rejection of the Epoch Times. “Obviously my feedback was not in support of that decision.” ...

The cost of vouchers

Public schools are just beginning to feel the effects of the voucher system. With fewer students and less money, they must make hard decisions. They have to let personnel go and perhaps even close schools. Nobody should argue against school choice, which is provided by vouchers. It gives parents more options for their children’s education. However, our legislators are using public tax money that had been used to support public schools to support vouchers. Also, our Governor has told our Auditor, Rob Sand, that he cannot review the cost of vouchers. This is only concerning because ...
