Comets stand firm in NICL West

LE GRAND – The BCLUW volleyball team remained unbeaten in NICL West Division play with Tuesday’s 3-0 sweep of East Marshall.

The Comets (16-3, 4-0) won 25-11, 25-16, 25-15. Jordyn Beeghly led BCLUW with seven kills and three blocks, while Hannah Sams had five kills and three blocks. Olivia Callaway scored five kills and two blocks, while Nicole Lutes contributed four kills and two blocks. Bobbi Paper totaled 21 assists and was 20-for-20 serving with two aces.

Kaylee Goecke went 12-for-12 with two aces, and Mikaela Simpson was 8-for-9 with three aces. Callaway led with 11 digs and Lutes had 10.

East Marshall (6-13, 1-4) was led by Brooke Finders with seven kills to go with four blocks. Amanda Paxton had four kills, Brooke Miller had three kills and three blocks, and Juliana Arifi led with five blocks.

Tiana Bolar had a team-high 11 digs and was 8-for-10 serving with two aces. Kylee Hoskins had 11 assists and Lana Long added nine.

Wolverines sweep aside Colo-NESCO

COLO – The GMG volleyball team scored a 3-0 sweep of Colo-NESCO in Tuesday’s Iowa Star Conference clash, winning 25-16, 25-17, 25-14.

No statistics were available as of press time for the Wolverines (8-10, 4-3), who host Waterloo Christian on Thursday night in Garwin.

Colo-NESCO (3-11, 1-6) was led by Kassie Robinson’s three kills and two service aces. Molly Barten had four blocks and Jazmine Voelker made five digs for the Royals, who go to the Madrid Tournament on Saturday.
