STC football outscores Vikings, 46-29
VINTON – The South Tama football team piled up 393 yards of total offense to score a 46-29, Class 3A District 3 victory against Vinton-Shellsburg on Friday night.
STC quarterback Clayton Rosenberger completed 8-of-14 pass attempts for 205 yards and three touchdowns, highlighted by a 69-yard hook-up with Riley Davenport. Colton Vest caught a 5-yard touchdown pass and Brady Fritz hauled in another from 2 yards out.
Isaac Judge led the Trojans (3-2, 2-1) with 98 yards rushing on 22 carries. Tanner Probasco, Rosenberger and Vest each had a touchdown run.
Kyle Kucera led the South Tama defense with eight solo tackles, one assist and a fumble recovery. Preston Chyma and Drew Dostal both had an interception and Mario Moncada recovered a fumble as well.
Tanner Davis rushed for 84 yards and returned a kickoff 94 yards for a touchdown to lead Vinton-Shellsburg (1-4, 0-3) in defeat.
South Tama hosts Benton Community on Friday night in Tama.
West Marshall shut down by D-NH
DIKE – The West Marshall football team was limited to 43 yards of total offense in a 44-0 loss at the hands of Dike-New Hartford on Friday night.
Alex Dickey rushed for 57 yards to lead the Trojans offensively. Quarterback Cameron Bannister was 8-for-14 passing for 24 yards, with Beau Coberley making three catches for 21 yards.
Ross Randall led defensively for West Marshall (2-3, 0-3), making nine solo tackles and eight assisted stops. Chase Burr had three solos and 10 assists, and Tyler Isenhower recovered a fumble.
Dike-New Hartford (3-2, 3-0) tailback Trent Johnson rushed 27 times for 254 yards and five touchdowns in the Class 2A District 3 tilt.
West Marshall hosts East Marshall in district play this Friday night at 7:30 p.m. in State Center.
