Spartans stomp Nashua-Plainfield

NASHUA – The Grundy Center football team came out strong against Nashua-Plainfield Friday night, scoring 48 points in the first half on its way to a 54-0 win in Class A District 3 play.

Bryce Flater finished the night with 259 yards rushing on 15 carries and five touchdowns. The Grundy Center (5-3, 4-2) senior running back had scoring runs of 2, 51, 46, 29 and 5 yards. Tim Knock also recorded a 2-yard touchdown plunge.

Defensively, the Spartans sacked Nashua-Plainfield (3-5, 2-4) 10 times and hauled in three interceptions. Jared Krausman returned an interception in the first quarter 34 yards for a touchdown. Flater scored on a 1-yard fumble recovery in the third.

Grundy Center travels to North Butler this Friday.

Redhawk football clobbers Thunder

DES MOINES – Cael Kopriva ran for 112 yards and three touchdowns on 14 rushes, throwing for 109 yards and another score in North Tama’s 53-0 Class A District 5 win over Grand View Christian Friday night.

Noah Bond and Tyler Morrison each ran for a touchdown while rushing for 84 and 82 yards, respectively. Michael Krienert also ran for a touchdown as the Redhawks (3-4, 2-3) led Grand View (0-7, 0-5) 40-0 at halftime.

Hale Hulme was on the receiving end of Kopriva’s touchdown toss of 6 yards. Tayten Payne and Tyler Morrison had interceptions on defense, Morrison returning his pick 76 yards for a touchdown.

North Tama hosts GMG (3-4, 1-4) this Friday at 7 p.m.

AGWSR manhandles Clarksville

CLARKSVILLE – Nathan Karsjens only completed three passes, but the senior quarterback did throw a 13-yard touchdown pass to Tate Hofmesiter while Karsjens ran for 132 yards and another three scores in AGWSR’s 43-6 8-Man District 2 win over Clarksville Friday night.

Tyler Rose also ran for a touchdown in the Cougar (5-2, 3-1) win.

AGWSR hosts Janesville (3-4, 2-2) this Friday at 7 p.m.

BCLUW falls to Belmond-Klemme

CONRAD – Brad Barkema threw a pair of touchdowns, but the BCLUW football dropped its seventh game of the season, falling 31-13 to Belmond-Klemme Friday night

Clay Silver was on the receiving end of one of the touchdown passes, leading the Comets (0-7, 0-5) in receptions and receiving yards, hauling in four catches for 89 yards. The touchdown connection went for 65 yards. Bradley Bell caught the other touchdown, a 10-yard pass, finishing the night with 42 yards on three catches.

BCLUW travels to Class 1A No. 3 Denver (7-0, 5-0) this Friday at 7 p.m.
