MCC’s Robinson named all-region Offensive Player

Seven Marshalltown Community College softball athletes have been named to the NJCAA all-Region XI team, including a pair of first-team selections and five second-team honorees.

Sophomore Courtney Fudge and freshman Shaena Robinson were selected to the all-region first team. Robinson led the conference in batting average, slugging percentage and on-base percentage and was named the NJCAA all-Region XI Offensive Player of the Year.

“This year’s group of all-region selections for MCC were dynamic and instrumental in helping us lay the groundwork for future teams,” said MCC head coach Garland Shirley. “With Fudge and Robinson representing us on the first-team … it is easy to see why we are changing the expectations for the program.”

Sophomores Jordan Carter, Tess Cheetham, Paige Taylor and Lexi Valentine, along with freshman Dion Shirley were all named to the second-team list.

Fudge hit .394 with 18 doubles and nine stole bases. She finished her career with 117 hits and a career batting average of .380.
