CEDAR FALLS — Sammie Bachrodt scored a season-high 20 points for the Drake women’s basketball team in a 72-67 win at Northern Iowa on Friday night at the McLeod Center.

Drake (19-7, 14-0 Missouri Valley Conference) had three others finish in double-figures as Becca Hittner scored 16 points, Maddy Dean added 14 points off the bench and Nicole Miller had 12 points. Miller also pulled down five rebounds and handed out four assists off the bench for the Bulldogs.

Rose Simon-Ressler and Megan Maahs of UNI (13-12, 9-5 MVC) each scored 16 points and recorded double-doubles. Simon-Ressler had 10 rebounds and pulled down 16 rebounds. The Panthers made 13 3-pointers.

With just a three-point lead at the end of the third quarter, Miller, who has scored in double figures in four-straight games, knocked down her only 3-pointer of the game 35 seconds in. Later, she converted a three-point play to push the Bulldogs lead back to six points.

Bachrodt then made her own 3-pointer after one by Simon-Ressler. Simon-Ressler then made another 3-pointer to pull back to three points at 60-57 but Becca Jonas made a layup and Miller made a free throw to extend the advantage back to five.

Bachrodt made another triple and Hittner made a layup to push the lead to nine points with 1:54 to play. Down the stretch, UNI twice cut the deficit to five points, but Bachrodt helped end the threat with four free throws to hold on for the win.
