South Tama stuns No. 6 Roland-Story

STORY CITY — The South Tama County girls basketball team upset Class 3A No. 6 Roland-Story in the semifinals of the 3A Region 7 tournament on Wednesday, 56-52.

The Trojans (14-9) led through most of the first half, taking a 29-26 lead into halftime, and they seemed to just stay one step ahead of the Norseman (20-3) throughout the second half until finally pulling away to begin the fourth quarter.

Jessica Musgrave finished with a game-high 24 points to pace South Tama, while Carissa Musgrave chipped in nine points off of three makes from behind the 3-point line. Tylese Rosenberger was next in scoring with eight points, going 6-for-8 from the free-throw line.

Juliann Clark led Roland-Story with 14 points, followed by Jenna Clark with 12 and Madison Friest with 11.

The Trojans now face off with West Marshall on Saturday in Gilbert at 7 p.m. with the winner moving on to the state tournament.
