GREELEY, Colo. — The Drake University men’s basketball team continues its postseason run in the Collegeinsider.com Tournament today when it takes on Northern Colorado at 4 p.m at Bank of Colorado Arena.

The Bulldogs (17-16) advanced to face the Bears (22-12) after an 80-73 win against Abilene Christian in the first round of the CIT on Monday. Drake was led by a career-high 25 points from senior Ore Arogundade in the first round while junior Nick McGlynn added 22 points to follow. Bulldogs leading scorer Reed Timmer went 1-for-13 against the Wildcats in a performance that head coach Niko Medved said after the game that Timmer likely won’t repeat.

Northern Colorado is playing in its first game since March 9 when the Bears were eliminated in the semifinals of the Big Sky Confrerence Tournament by eventual champion Montana. Andre Spight leads the Bears in scoring at 21.9 points per game and the senior transfer from Arizona State also has two 40-point games this year.

Drake’s 17 wins this season are the 13th most in program history and the most since the 2011-12 campaign.

This will be the first-ever meeting between the Bulldogs and Bears and only the fourth total postseason appearance for Northern Colorado at the Division I level. Drake is playing in its 11th postseason tournament, and both teams are playing for the third time in the CIT.
