Timmer named to all-MVC first team
ST. LOUIS, Mo. — Drake University senior Reed Timmer has been named to the all-Missouri Valley Conference men’s basketball first team, the conference announced Tuesday.
Timmer’s honor marks the first all-MVC first-team selection for the Bulldogs since Josh Young during the 2009-10 season. This is the fourth consecutive year Timmer has been named all-MVC following a third-team selection a year ago.
Timmer was named honorable mention as a sophomore and was a member of the all-freshman and all-newcomer teams his freshman campaign. This season he has eclipsed the 1,900 points while becoming Drake’s all-time scorer passing Josh Young’s mark from 2006-10. Timmer currently ranks 10th all time in scoring in the MVC with 1,956 points, a mark that makes him the leading scorer in Bulldog history.
Northern Iowa’s Bennett Koch also earned all-MVC honors, coming in on the third team. Koch leads the Panthers in scoring with 12.7 points per game and in block shots with 24. He had 20 double-figure games this season, including a career-high 30 points in a win over UNLV.
Tywhon Pickford also represents UNI on both the all-freshman and all-newcomer squads after finishing second in rebounding in the MVC with 8 rebounds per game.
