Marshalltown Community College striker David Kromah has decided on where he will continue his college career.

The Tiger sophomore has signed a National Letter of Intent with Northern Michigan University, a NCAA Division II school in Michigan’s upper peninsula.

Northern Michigan plays in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference and is coached by David Poggi, who has over 30 years of experience coaching at the collegiate and club level.

“We are very happy about David’s commitment to Northern Michigan,” Tigers head soccer coach Rafael Martinez said. “I have been in constant communication with coach Poggi and feel that this is a great fit for both the program and David.”

Kromah had a good year for the Tigers playing alongside All-American Kino Ryosuke. He scored eight times for MCC, including two game-winning goals.

“I’m really excited about joining Coach Poggi at Northern Michigan,” Kromah said. “I think they have a great group of guys up there that can excel in the coming years and I hope I can make a positive contribution and help with the growth of the program.”

Martinez said it will be sad to see Kromah go, as he has been a big part of the Tigers program over the last two years.

“David came to MCC with a tremendous resume at the high school level, and yet he understood he needed to adjust to a different style and speed of the game in order to have success at the college level,” Martinez said. “He was successful by allowing coaches input, watching and learning from his teammates and working hard in all aspects to make himself a valuable member of our family. I think David leaves this college a better man and a better player and I am very proud of him for accomplishing that.”
