MCC baseball coaches clinic on Jan. 26

The Marshalltown Community College baseball program will host its first ever Leadoff Coaches Clinic and Fundraising Dinner on the MCC campus on Jan. 26.

The coaching clinic will feature nine speakers, including seven current baseball coaches, one NCAA Division I strength and conditioning coach and an award-winning sports turf manager. The speakers will cover a number of topics, ranging from coaching strategy, practice drills, field maintenance techniques, strength training programs and leadership development.

Speakers will include new Tiger baseball head coach Anthony Everman, new MCC assistant coach Connor Dawson, Marshalltown High School head baseball coach Steve Hanson, West Marshall High School sports turf manager Doug Watt, and Seattle Mariners organizational hitting coach Jarret DeHart.

Admission for the coaches clinic is $50 per coach. The clinic will begin at 11 a.m., with the first speaker scheduled to start at 11:15 a.m. Presentations will be approximately 45 minutes each and will run throughout the day.

The fundraising dinner is geared towards area coaches and program supporters that want to learn more about the MCC baseball program. Social hour will begin at 6 p.m. with the dinner and program to follow at 7 p.m.

The clinic and dinner will be held in room 808, located in the continuing education portion of the MCC campus in the southwest corner of campus.
