MHS girls track third at Prairie

CEDAR RAPIDS — The Marshalltown girls track and field team finished in third out of six teams in the Cedar Rapids Prairie Relays on Monday with 94 points.

Bobcat senior Alyvia Chadderdon picked up a win in the long jump with a season-best jump of 15 feet, 8 1/2 inches.

Mia Barajas had a season-best time in the 800-meter run of 2 minutes, 29.26 seconds to place third, and Phoebe Hermanson was fourth after also running a season-best time of 2:30.39. Rachel Smith was third in the 1,500 with a season-best 5:34.19, and Kierra Gardner was third in the 200 with a season-best 28.25. Priscilla Vergara was also third in the 400 with a season-best time of 1:05.14, while Gabby Himes took third in the high jump with a vault of 4-8.

The 4×400 relay team of Vergara, Barajas, Mya Gallegos and Grace Collins took second with a 4:28.38, and the 4×800 team of Hermanson, Barajas, Smith and Mackenna Ainsworth was second with a season-best time of 10:22.54.
