Trojans hit three tanks, top Wolverines
DIKE — The West Marshall baseball team hit more home runs than Dike-New Hartford had total hits, and the Trojans avenged an earlier loss by beating the Class 2A No. 3 Wolverines 15-2 in five innings here Friday night.
Gabe Jones threw a one-hitter for the five-inning complete game for West Marshall (26-5), allowing one earned run on a Parker Kiewiet single, two walks and three hit batsmen.
The Trojans backed him with a total of 12 hits, including home runs by Cameron Bannister, Kaden Davis and Nat Markle. Davis had three hits with a double, a homer and two runs scored, while Bannister’s solo homer was one of his three hits. Markle had two hits, including a two-run single and a two-run homer.
Kinnick Christensen added a double and three RBIs, and Jake Tollefson had an RBI double and scored twice for the Trojans, who are off until Tuesday. West Marshall hosts the Class 2A District 10 semifinals and will face either East Marshall or Williamsburg at 7 p.m. in State Center. PCM faces either Pella Christian or Union Community in the 5 p.m. contest.
