Ex-Panther joins Nurse’s Raptors staff

Brittni Donaldson

TORONTO — Former Northern Iowa women’s basketball player Brittni Donaldson was named as an assistant coach for the NBA champion Toronto Raptors on Sunday.

The Sioux City native will join fellow UNI alum and Raptors head coach Nick Nurse after serving as the franchise’s front office STATS LLC data analyst for two years.

Most recently Donaldson served as a member of the Raptors’ coaching staff for the NBA Summer League in Las Vegas and served as an instructor at the Giants of Africa basketball camps in Tanzania and South Sudan.

At Northern Iowa, Donaldson was a two-year starter at guard and played in three Women’s National Invitational tournaments. In her 114 games, Donaldson holds the school record for 3-pointers made in a game with eight and was named honorable mention MVC Scholar-Athlete her junior year.

Donaldson becomes the 10th female assistant coach in the history of the NBA.
