SPORTS SHORTS: Wolverines blanked by Hudson, 38-0

GARWIN — The GMG football team was limited to 102 yards of total offense in surrendering Hudson’s first win of the season, a 38-0 loss in Friday’s Class A District 7 opener for both teams.

Hudson (1-3, 1-0) rushed for 348 yards and all five of its touchdowns, led by Joe Culham’s 21 carries for 141 yards and one score. Payton Stuart added 13 carries for 113 yards and two TDs as the Pirates averaged 7.4 yards per carry and compiled 408 yards of total offense.

Justin Savadty led GMG with four carries for 37 yards, while Noah Ratliff added 20 yards rushing. Quarterback Adam Cox completed 5-of-7 passes for 48 yards, connecting twice with Avery Bryant for a team-high 27 yards. Brayden Anderson added a 13-yard grab.

GMG goes out on the road for its next two games against a pair of ranked district foes in Wapsie Valley and Grundy Center.

STC stifled by Bondurant-Farrar, 49-6

TAMA — Kaeden Lozano ran for 160 yards and six touchdowns as Bondurant-Farrar beat the South Tama football team 49-6 on Friday night.

Lozano averaged 10 yards per touch for the Bluejays (2-1), who ran for 301 yards and threw for 83 more.

Payton Vest accumulated 97 yards from scrimmage for South Tama (0-3), which totaled just 119 yards in the program’s 18th-straight loss. Vest carried 12 times for 49 yards and STC’s only touchdown, and he caught two passes for 48 yards. Quarterback Brayden Smith finished 4-for-12 for 70 yards with two interceptions, and the Trojans turned the ball over three times in all.

Jesus Wanatee-Romero led the South Tama defense with seven solo tackles and three assists, while Vest had seven solo stops. Johnny Nunez had an interception.

The Trojans go out on the road this Friday night to face Nevada (1-2) in their last non-district contest.
