Mustangs succumb to North Linn 38-6

LE GRAND — The East Marshall football team closed out its home slate without a win Friday, falling 38-6 to North Linn in a Class 1A District 6 contest.

The Mustangs (1-7, 0-4) wrap up their season next Friday night at Jesup.

North Linn (5-3, 2-2) led 38-0 before East Marshall got on the board in the fourth quarter. Garrett Kerber found the end zone on a 20-yard touchdown run for the Mustangs’ lone scoring play.

Kerber led East Marshall offensively with 10 carries for 78 yards, while Samuel Bandstra chipped in 27 yards on 12 carries.

Bo Lee stepped in for an injured Logan Bowie and completed 3-of-7 passes for 46 yards. Dane Thompson had the top catch, going for 31 yards.

Bandstra had 11 solo tackles to lead East Marshall, while Carson Burchland had six solo tackles and five assists. Kerber added three solos and three assists while also forcing a fumble that Thompson recovered.
