Bobcats open with rout of Roughriders
MHS topples Roosevelt 68-12
DES MOINES — The Marshalltown wrestling team tallied five pins in its season-opening victory over Des Moines Roosevelt, handling the Roughriders 68-12 on Thursday night.
The Bobcats won seven of the eight contested matches and received five forfeits from Roosevelt.
Opening the year with pins were Bennett Hageman at 138 pounds, Zach Bitker at 145, Dylano Castellanos at 170, Carson Williams at 220 and 10th-ranked Jordan Anderson at 285.
Coltin Grimm kicked off the season with a 15-0 technical fall over Dillon Maguire at 182, racking up the victory midway through the second period. Luke Hageman won his varsity debut by decision, 7-4, over Maxon Phommaxaysi at 120.
The Bobcats are back in action Saturday at the Williamsburg Tournament.
