FORT DODGE — The Marshalltown boys’ bowling team fell short of its season average and as a result slipped to third place at the CIML Iowa Conference meet here Friday at Ridgewood Lanes in spite of senior Lucas Kramer’s championship performance.

The Bobcats shared the regular-season crown but couldn’t complete the sweep as Fort Dodge won the conference tournament with a 3,042 total. Southeast Polk was second at 2,960, while Marshalltown was third with a 2,911.

Waukee (2,880), Mason City (2,782) and Valley (2,665) finished out the team standings.

Kramer came through with a 224-277–501, which was good for the conference championship by a cozy 26 pins. Fort Dodge’s Jayden Ray was second with a 252-223–475 and the Dodgers’ Kaleb Anderson was third at 258-213–471.

Bobcat senior Logan Proffitt also picked up fifth place for his performance, which included a career-high game and a season-high series as he rolled 267-167–434. Demitri Ferneau finished with an individual medal in 12th place by scoring a 182-213–395.

Dylan Cooper (175-181–336) and Xander Pickett (149-160–309) had their scores count to the final team total, while Hunter Dannen’s 156-122–278 did not.

The Bobcats (11-4) were in second place after the individual rounds before Southeast Polk blasted past them with a 1,076 Baker games total. The Rams rolled a 258 in the third Baker game and then finished with a 279 in the fifth game.

Marshalltown makes its bid for the state meet on Tuesday when the Bobcats host the state-qualifying meet at Wayward Social.
